Common Failures of Wind Turbines and Solutions

Mechanical failure

1. Bearing failure

Reasons: 

① Wear caused by long-term operation

② Pay attention to the accuracy and matching clearance of the bearing during installation to ensure correct installation.

Cause: Long-term exposure to wind and operating loads, severe weather

Solution:

① Regularly check the integrity and damage of the blades, and repair or replace damaged blades in a timely manner.

② Strengthen monitoring and maintenance under severe weather conditions to ensure the safe operation of wind turbines.

Electrical Failure

   1. Generator winding failure

Reason: Overload operation, winding insulation aging, voltage fluctuation

Solution:

①Regularly check the electrical parameters and insulation of the generator, and repair or replace damaged windings in time.

②Protect the generator from overload to avoid long-term overload operation.

2. Controller failure

Reason: 

①Electromagnetic interference 

②Controller hardware damage 

③Software program error

Solution:

①Electromagnetic shielding of the controller to reduce the impact of electromagnetic interference.

②Regularly check the hardware and software status of the controller, and repair or replace damaged parts in time.

③Update and optimize the control program to ensure its stability and reliability.

Other faults  1. Severe shaking

Reason: 

① Loose bolts on the generator base 

② Deformation or jamming of blades

Solution:

① Regularly check and tighten the bolts on the generator base.

② Repair or replace deformed blades to ensure the integrity and balance of the blades.

2. Ineffective adjustment

Reason: 

① Damage to the pressure bearing at the upper end of the fan column (or tower)

② Long-term lack of maintenance causes aging and hardening of butter

Solution:

① Regularly check and replace damaged pressure bearings.

② Regularly maintain the fan to ensure that lubricants such as butter are sufficient and in good condition.
