Wind turbine noise and solutions

Wind turbines are an important representative of clean energy and have been widely used worldwide. However, with the continuous increase in wind turbines, the noise problem generated during their operation has gradually become prominent. The following is a detailed analysis of wind turbine noise and solutions.

Noise Source

1. Mechanical noise

· Rotor rotation: The rotor rotates in capturing wind energy, causing vortices and turbulence in the airflow, thereby generating aerodynamic noise.

· Generator and transmission system: During the operation of the generator and transmission system, vibration and noise will be generated due to the interaction of mechanical parts such as bearing friction and gear movement.

· Tower structure: The tower structure of the wind turbine may resonate under the action of the wind, especially when the wind speed is high, this resonance will further aggravate the noise.

2. Aerodynamic noise:

· Noise generated by airflow separation, turbulence, or wake on the blade surface.

3. Structural noise:

· Vibration noise generated by various components in the cabin under power transmission and external excitation.

· The unbalanced force generated by the uneven wind force on the wind wheel is transmitted to the cabin, causing cabin vibration noise.

· Vibration noise generated by the tower bearing wind loads and dynamic loads generated by the operation of the unit.

 Solutions:

 1. Materials:

Use new materials to manufacture wind blades, such as composite materials, to reduce the noise of wind blades.

Use vibration-damping materials and sound-insulating materials, such as rubber vibration-damping pads and sound-insulating felts, to wrap the key parts of wind turbines to reduce the spread of mechanical vibration and noise.

2. Structure:

Improve the structural design of wind turbines, such as optimizing the shape, size, and airfoil of blades to reduce the friction between wind rotor blades and air and reduce the generation of mechanical noise.

·Use reinforced concrete piles to reduce the vibration of the machine and reduce the noise during machine movement.

3. Control:

Use intelligent control systems to control the operating speed of the machine, adjust the blade speed and generator power according to wind speed, wind direction, and other conditions, and realize active control of noise.

4. Site selection and layout:

Reasonably select the size and layout of wind turbines to avoid building wind power projects in densely populated areas or sensitive areas.

5. Equipment maintenance and care:

Regularly inspect and maintain wind turbines to ensure the normal operation of the equipment and reduce the noise caused by equipment failure or aging.

In summary, by comprehensively applying the above noise control measures, the noise level of new energy wind turbines can be significantly reduced, and their application value and environmental friendliness in the energy field can be improved. At the same time, with the continuous advancement and innovation of technology, more effective noise control methods will be applied to the field of wind power generation in the future.
